What the AI Operating Map is, and why it exists.
The AI Operating Map is a methodology and platform for knowing where AI operates in your business, where it could, and where it should. It examines your organisation across six domains, People and Roles, Processes and Workflows, Data and Knowledge, Tools and Agents, Governance Risk and Security, and Outcomes and Value, and holds it all in one system of record. One payment, unlimited internal users, no annual fee.
Where it came from
The Map didn't start as a product. It began inside Techshin Partners, a technology leadership practice, as the private framework used in paid engagements with clients across seven countries to map an organisation's people, workflows, tools, agents, governance and outcomes in one place. Clients kept asking the same question: can we buy just the map? Eventually the honest answer was yes.
So it was productised, priced as a one time payment, and made available to organisations it will never meet in a room. What you're buying is not a startup's guess at what governance software should look like. It's the working tool of a practice that has to stand behind it with real leadership teams.
Why we exist
AI arrived in most organisations before anyone decided it should. Tool by tool, team by team, with no record, no owner and no way to answer for any of it. We think that's backwards, and fixing it is the whole mission:
Every organisation able to answer
for the AI it runs, any day it's asked.
That's why governance, enablement and measurement sit at the core of the platform rather than bolted on for the audit. Govern the risk, enable the teams, measure the value. Miss one and you've got a shiny register. Hold all three and you can say where AI operates in your business, where it could, and where it should, and stand behind the answer.
The principles behind the Map
A boring, reliable register
The Map is a system of record, not another AI making decisions about your data. Boring is the point.
Self reported by design
No integrations, no silent data collection. Your team enters what it owns, so you always know exactly what the platform can see.
You own your data
Your organisation's data belongs to your organisation. If the service ever ends, you get at least 90 days notice and a full export.
One price, no meter running
A one time payment with no annual platform fee, because a register you resent paying for is a register nobody updates.
Timothy J. Hitchens
TJ created the AI Operating Map. He has spent forty years in technology, including twenty five years as a technology leader and six roles as CTO, with senior leadership at Amazon Web Services across Asia Pacific and Japan. He is Managing Partner at Techshin Partners, the practice where the methodology was forged and its founding implementation partner, and built the Map because every engagement began with the same unanswerable question: where is AI actually operating in this business right now?
The AI Operating Map was created by Timothy J. Hitchens. The platform is operated by MOHO & Cave Pty Ltd, trading as AI Operating Map, an Australian company based in Brisbane. The Map is deliberately independent of the AI vendors it tracks: no tool vendor pays to appear in your map or to be recommended by it, so the platform is answerable only to the organisations that run on it.
